If you are on your own you may want to ask for "The old
stone temple" if you want accurate directions as lot of them are not aware
of its official name.
Daityasudan Temple dedicated to Vishnu dated to the
Chalukya Dynasty. Built in Hemadpanthi style has plinth of 1.5 m in height.
All over the exterior wall it has beautiful scenes from
Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Several exquisite figures of gods and goddess are seen.
The detailed carvings on the sides of an old entrance which was now locked.
Typically seen are several dancing poses and artistic ones
like ‘shringar’.
There are several carvings similar to what is seen at
Khajuraho temples.
The temple is very basic from inside. Area out-side the
sanctum is dark and the ceiling reveals beautiful carvings under a torch light.
The temple is must visit if you are visiting Lonar. After
visiting Lonar we proceeded to our next destination-Karanja.
